My name is Emma Young I was born in Otago, New Zealand, where I grew up just outside of Dunedin, with one older brother, Mum and Dad, as well as a menagerie of different family pets over the years.
In 2002 I graduated from Otago University with a Bachelor of Arts with a Double Major in Design Studies and Art History and Theory. In my first year out of University I worked in a camera store processing films, printing and digitally restoring damaged photographs, which is what got started me into photography.
After that I moved to Auckland where I worked in the following industries, custom garment manufacturing, publishing, and promotional merchandise. Each of these positions used my design software skills in different ways so I developed a broad skill set. Although the problem with this is I often have no idea what my next position will be.
After a four month travel interlude to South America I moved to London where I initially was working creating HTML emails for a online job board and then as a Marketing Executive for the same company. Working there inspired me to have a go at building this site, www.visualperspective.co.nz. The HTML code I was producing for emails is a little bit different than coding for websites, so basically this website is a practise exercise for me to learn a about CSS, a little bit of JavaScript, and I have also used a PHP email script.
Currently I am now working for a large business to business publishing company as an Audience Development Manager, with a particular focus on placing content behind gateways and monitoring the effect restricting access to the content has on the publications and websites.
